African history for me is very important and plays a big role in my life as a Jamaican-Canadian. Descended from slaves of various ethnicities, proud of the unique culture of my island and other islands within the Caribbean but still interested/fixated on learning and understanding the origins of it all in Africa. All the different ethnicities within the Continent and cultures have so much similarities amongst the Diaspora "for obvious reasons" but I wish to learn and experience more.

Throughout university I have taken African history courses (Pre-colonial and Post-Colonial) as well as Caribbean history courses.

I also have done my Ancestry DNA test to get some insight on the genetic breakdown of myself LOL but also a better understanding on enthnicity reports on the ethnic groups that aided to form the Jamaican identity and comparing it with my findings on myself.
